Vestibular Rehabilitation is a specialized area of Physiotherapy which assesses and treats symptoms of vertigo, motion intolerance, loss of balance and visual acuity as a result of Inner Ear (Vestibular system) dysfunction.

A comprehensive evaluation of Oculomotor (eye), Vestibulo-Ocular (Vestibular system-eye), and Musculoskeletal (muscle/joint) systems is completed. Assessment of static and dynamic balance and visual acuity testing may also be completed to determine Vestibular system loss/weakness.

Treatment programs are designed specifically for an individual patient, and may include manual treatment, activities to normalize Vestibular function, and/or exercises to enhance the ability of the Central Nervous System (Brain and Spinal Cord), to regain normal Vestibular Function.

Symptoms of vertigo are relieved, and balance and visual acuity are improved.

Vestibular Rehabilitation is a well researched, comprehensive and successful form of Physiotherapy.
