This area of physiotherapy addresses conditions most often affecting women, such as breast cancer, perinatal concerns, osteoporosis, incontinence and other pelvic floor problems. Advanced education particularly in the area of pelvic floor physiotherapy is required and Nicki Julien and Leanne Schlachter are licensed to perform this type of therapy. Such problems as incontinence (inadequate bladder control), prenatal/postpartum care, pelvic floor pain and dysfunction (which can present as buttock pain, lower abdominal pain, or pain with sexual intercourse, etc) can be helped with physical therapy. These problems can affect women of all ages. Women are often under the impression that bladder leakage is a normal part of being a woman but it is not and should be treated for optimal function. You can email Nicki or Leanne if you are unsure if your problem would benefit from physiotherapy (nicki@pursuitphysio.com or leanne@pursuitphysio.com). As always, consult your doctor if you have any concerns over infections or other problems that first need to be treated medically. |
